New Construction Projects Underway in Wickenburg

The Town of Wickenburg continues to reinvest in the community through a number of public works projects, including some that are currently underway or set to begin in April, 2017.

Kellis Road will be closed between West Wickenburg Way and North Oxbow Drive for water main connections through April 24th. The $45,000 project will improve the reliability of the water service in the Sunny Cove historic neighborhood on Oxbow Drive. Traffic can detour through Apache Street during construction.

Starting April 19, North Washington Street will be getting a facelift between Yavapai Street and West Wickenburg Way. The $642,000 project will replace the waterline and asphalt and improve sidewalks and ramps to be ADA compliant. The project is funded by a Community Development Block Grant.

The North Washington Street project is scheduled for completion by June 20. There will be restricted access in the area for the duration of the project.

The Town will also begin work on the Mariposa Drive drainage project in the areas of Sunset and Sunny Cove washes. This $250,000 project will begin on April 25 and is scheduled for completion by June 22. This project is finalizing improvements to damage caused during a storm in July, 2015.

Pavement preservation and chip seal efforts will also take place on May 1 and 2 in the Desert Hills and Rolling Hills subdivisions. Motorists should use extra caution around crews.

Construction is also underway on a variety of other exciting projects throughout Town. The much anticipated splash pad is under construction at Sunset Park and expected to be complete by Memorial Day.

The Historic 761 train in downtown received a major facelift and will have a shade structure installed in the next several months. The new shade structure will help preserve the life of the improvements of the train. Special thanks go to all the community contributions that have made this project a reality.
