Literary Festival

The Town of Wickenburg is calling all authors to be a part of the award-winning Wickenburg Literary Festival on April 13, 2019 in Historic Downtown Wickenburg.

There will be an exciting new layout to the event, but please take notice it will involve road closures on Valentine/Garcia St. in front of the Wickenburg Community Center. Entry into the Community Center will be accessible from the back entrances to the facility. Signage will be in place to direct traffic. For more information on parking and road closures please visit see the map tab.

The free community event will start at 9 am in the Wickenburg Public Library. Events throughout the day include a “Chalk the Block” sidewalk art competition, musical and dance presentations and the annual Wickenburg PTA book fair.

Now in its fourth year, the 2019 Wickenburg Literary Festival will be accentuated with author presentations. In addition, Kathy Lynn Young will offer a stirring story performance on the Trail of Tears; author and artist Marilyn Wiley will also be in attendance with tales from a wagon train that traveled from Texas to Arizona. Local school choral groups will take the stage demonstrating another form of storytelling through song. An exciting writing workshop through Arizona State University will take place to encourage the burgeoning writer and hone technique. Additional highlights will be entertainment sponsored by the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts including a drum circle, street performers and the headliner of the event, Western duo Dan McCorison with Doug McKee.

This year’s literary festival is made possible by a number of community partners, including the Town of Wickenburg, Wickenburg Library Society, Desert Caballeros Western Museum, Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce, Wickenburg Art Club, Wickenburg Unified School District #9, Wickenburg PTA Book Fair, Friends of the Wickenburg Public Library, and Del E Webb Center for the Performing Arts.
